Practical Information

Arrival and Accommodation

Most participants are accommodated at Hotel Ydalir on campus.

There is an airport bus to the city centre. There are two distinct routes and one of the two stops at the university campus nearby Ydalir.

Getting around

There are several local buses between the University campus and the city centre. (E.g. bus no 6, X60, 7). All participants receive a 7 day bus pass when arriving.

There are campus maps for online viewing and for printing. (Ydalir is new and the map is not. Ydalir is located between the Kjell Arholm building and the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate.)

Workshop Dinner

On Tuesday at 19:30 all registered participants are invited to a social dinner at Spiseriet, inside the Concert Hall (a 5-10 minutes walk from the city centre).

Exploration

If weather permits a group will be hiking to the Pulpit Rock on Wednesday, and everyone is welcome to join. Bring good shoes and a jacket. Other options include catching a boat to Lindøy, with or without fishing rod.

Update 9 April: The Pulpit Rock hike is currently very icy and a bit challenging. Crampons are recommended and can be hired at the mountain lodge at the start of the trail.

Thursday night there's an interesting concert by the excellent Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, highly recommended. Programme and tickets at the orchestra's web page.
